A new website is currently under development to make it easier to find the information about PEDP and our tools, datasets, and other communications. Stay tuned!
Preserving and maintaining environmental data and tools in a time of erasure
OUR MISSION
The Public Environmental Data Partners (PEDP) is a coalition of mission aligned organizations who are working collaboratively to archive, store, and develop data and tools that help us maintain a shared understanding of our environment.
Founded in 2024, PEDP’s goals are to not only maintain public access to critical infrastructure but to also reimagine a more robust, resilient, and usable data ecosystem for our future.
WHAT WE DO
DATA PRESERVATION
PEDP coordinates across the environmental field to develop policy recommendations and legislative strategies that protect data infrastructure. PEDP also creates multimedia stories to raise awareness around key environmental data infrastructure issues across the U.S.
TOOL DEVELOPMENT
PEDP archives at-risk environmental data and tools so this vital information remains accessible to the general public. Our organization also develops systems for identifying and monitoring ongoing risks to environmental data and tools.
ADVOCACY
PEDP rebuilds tools no longer supported by the federal government so that they remain accessible and usable. PEDP also improves on these tools and builds new ones based on feedback and engagement with communities.
